Alpenglow Sports Events!

Ready to dive into winter? Check out the schedule of events that Tahoe City’s Alpenglow Sports is presenting the first two weeks of December. They have a variety of amazing films, speakers and training classes set up to get you excited for snow time. All events are at the Alpenglow Store at 415 North Lake Blvd. in Tahoe City, except for the Winter Film Series event on December 7th, at the Olympic Village Lodge.


December 1st
Winter Wildlands Alliance Backcountry Film Festival
A line up of short films “celebrating adventure, environmental consciousness and outdoor youth involvement”. It’s a benefit for Tahoe Cross Country Ski Education Association and Sierra Watershed Education Partnerships.
7 pm, $10

December 7th
Adrian Ballenger-Everest No Filter 2.0

In 2016 Cory Richards and Adrian Ballinger attempted to summit Mt. Everest without supplemental oxygen. Cory made it, but Adrian had to turn around before reaching the top. In 2017 the pair set out once again to bring Adrian to the prize. The film documents this push and Ballinger will be there to talk about it. Raffle proceeds benefit the Sierra Avalanche Center.

December 9th
DPS Cinematic, The Shadow Campaign
Enjoy cold beer and four short films about winter and skiing throughout the world. Based on the trailer, it should be an inspiring way to get ready to ski.

6:30 pm $7 Proceeds benefit Tahoe Backcountry Alliance.

December 13th.
Community Avalanche Beacon Seminar.
A night of avalanche safety training with Mammut! Hosted by the Tahoe City Winter Sports Park and Cafe Zenon. It’s free and will provide the info about the use of avalanche beacons before heading out into the backcountry this winter.

December 14th
Tailgate Talk, Brennan Lagasse’s Night for the Refuge
A showing of the Patagonia film about the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge plus footage from Lagasse’s time on the Arctic Coastal plain, and a discussion led by Lagasse on how you can help protect and preserve the refuge.
6:30 pm. Free, Pizza and beer for sale with proceeds benefitting Gwich’in Steering Committee.
